Come along for the fun on a comical winter’s night that doesn’t go quite as planned ... and ends with a secret hunter and dad Marty is glad Santa kept all these years! ​ After a long, cold stint in a tree stand that leaves him snoring and left to hunt alone by his son, seasoned hunter Marty wakes up and spots his prize. He isn’t about to go home empty-handed but full of stories about the one that got away! ​ In a sharp-witted take on a couple of Christmas classics written in rhyme by Marty Hecker and delightfully illustrated by DC Comics’ Mark Poulton, ’Twas the Hunt Before Christmas has the makings of a campy new family favorite.

Avid hunter and firearms sportsman Marty Hecker helps families develop an appreciation for the shooting sports as a source of safe family fun from generation to generation. Marty has two boys and has taught them from early on to safely enjoy sport-shooting and hunting. While out on a cold Christmas Eve during his eldest son's first hunting season they were joking around changing the words to "Twas the Night Before Christmas, and his first book was born. Marty hopes people enjoy the story as much as he enjoyed creating it and that it will be a source of laughter, enjoyment, and education for families for years to come.



Mark Poulton is freelance comic book writer/children’s book author who most recently worked on Savage Hawkman for DC Comics and Avengelyne for Image Comics. His children’s book, A Cat Named Haiku, was nominated for Best Single Issue Story in the 2011 Eagle Awards, and was selected to be part of the TogetheRead Program by His Arcana Studio’s series Koni Waves is in development for television. He currently lives in Lindenwold, NJ with his wife Chrissy and son, Chase. In his spare time, he hosts the popular comics’ podcast, Talking About Our Issues.
